As part of the Falkland Estate works, Arc tendered for the conservation of this monument which sits on the hill side overlooking Falkland.  The monument had suffered in its elevated location from weathering, vandalism and the increasing invasion of plant species.

The top of the monument could be seen to be moving apart as a result of water penetration and perhaps also a lightning strike?  Nature was invading at all levels with trees, plants and even birds making the monument their home.

Conservation of the monument involved: removing plant life; rebuilding the top courses of stones; repointing up to 80% of the façade at upper levels and installing a number of indents; installing a lightning conductor; repairing bent ironwork; and refurbishing the commemorative plaque.
