Arc has considerable experience of many types of projects to conserve, reinstate and re-use historic buildings. These have included the consolidation of ruined structures, restoration, alteration and extension of historic buildings and work in conservation areas. Project administration has involved feasibility studies, grant administration, management of voluntary groups, training and establishing a Building Preservation Trust.
Arc has particular expertise in earth, lime and thatch materials. Tom Morton has RIAS Accreditation in Conservation, grade A.
A rigorous technical approach to the conservation of historic fabric
is balanced by a sensitive approach to the introduction of modern design
elements and services, carefully judged in their architectural and cultural
contexts.
