Arc is developing proposals to secure the future of an important cluster
of public buildings in Anstruther Wester. Working on behalf of the
Fife Historic Buildings Trust and funded by the Architectural
Heritage Fund, an Options Appraisal Report has examined their condition and
proposed a viable future use.
The Hew Scott Hall, St. Nicholas Tower and Wester Town Hall are important
townscape landmarks dating from the 16th c. and valued by local people.
However, their ownership is insecure and they need extensive repairs.
The recommended option would see the Hew Scott Hall transformed into
a hub of rented artists’ studios and sharing facilities with
the renewed community use of the Wester Town Hall. We welcome comments
