This new farmhouse sits in a dramatic setting, with stunning views across rolling farmland to the sea, Arran and Ailsa Craig. Making best use of these views and creating a warm, cosy, low maintenance and extremely low energy home has led to a design which reflects the local farm building cluster layout and forms.

The shape of the local hay shed tradition influences the building shape and climatic response, optimising passive solar design and natural ventilation. The setting for the house is equally important, continuing the simplicity and elegance of form by trees and shrubs creating shelter from the winter winds with the open farmland continuing seamlessly towards the sea.

The house has been granted planning permission and is being designed to the stringent passivhaus standard.
