General interest in good quality, new build, ecological and 'sustainable' housing is growing, particularly in response to rising energy prices, and a general awareness of 'low impact living'. Arc has a strong track record of designing to these criteria and for this reason has a number of new build ecological houses currently on the drawing board.
This particular project has been designed for a green field site in a harsh maritime climate, with stunning views and a high level of annual sunshine. The design relates to the context of the farm landscape and buildings, and provides a low energy, low maintenance building, responding to the views and a modern lifestyle.
Materials are chosen carefully for aesthetics, functionality, low toxicity and durability. Careful design dramatically reduces energy requirements. Where appropriate, renewable technologies are integrated.
